Make sure your email account accepts email from the court and does not treat these emails as spam and block
them from reaching your account. As a precaution, please check the spam
inbox for email from the court before choosing �delete all.�

When an attorney leaves a law firm and a substitute counsel will take over the case, a Notice of Withdrawal
should be filed prior to the attorney�s departure from the firmand and a Notice of Appearance of Counsel made for the new counsel.

A secondary email address is available, which allows you to notify more
than one person concerning the Courtesy Notifications. It is suggested that a support
person within the firm use that secondary email feature to receive these notices while
the attorney uses the primary email address.

It is your responsibility to maintain the accuracy of your personal information,
including an up-to-date email address. You can access your profile
information by selecting My Profile > My User Profile from
the menu.

Be sure to change your password if you have shared that password
with a co-worker and that co-worker has left the firm. You can change
your password by selecting My Profile > Change My Password
from the menu, then entering a new password.

Follow the standard paper process to notify parties. The courtesy notifications are not a
replacement for the paper notices.

You will need a firm credit card or eCheck to pay the filing fee online.

Do not combine motions and proposed orders into one document. Motions are to be sent in PDF format while
Proposed Orders are to be sent in a word processing format defined by the NCAOC. Microsoft Word 2003 is the
recommended format at this time for Proposed Orders.

Summons are to be sent in a word processing format defined by the NCAOC. Microsoft Word 2003 is the
recommended format at this time for Summons. Watch for your courtesy notification for the Issuance of Summons.
You need to print these and give them to the proper Sheriff department for service.

When filing an emergency motion, the attorney needs to contact
the court or the court may not be aware of the motion until the
following day.
Most courts using electronic filing are currently treating the use
of an attorney’s unique system login and password along with
/S/Attorney Name as a signature. Attorneys/parties should retain
documents containing original signatures.
Can any attorney access any other case information?
Any user with an account that knows the case number, and county can view the case summary.
Only counsel of record on the case may remotely view
or access electronically filed documents.
Although the efiling system sends out courtesy notifications you are required to continue sending notifications in paper. This will change once integration between
the efile system and VCAP is completed.
Only Adobe Acrobat PDF documents are stamped. Each document in the proper format is stamped with a date and time stamp. The first page of each PDF document is stamped. Suppose you include
a notice of hearing and petition in one document. Only the first page in the PDF document will be stamped. Even though there are two documents in one PDF file, because both documents are in a single PDF document only one
stamp is applied to the first page.
